PDC World Darts Championship
Starts tonight at the Ally Pally - anyone going or watching it?
Grumpster who's your money on this year? Not sure if Anderson could win for the third time but you never know!

I think Taylor's strength was his finishing. At times he wasn't the biggest scorer but he rarely missed a double in his pomp. Saw the 9 dart list for World Championships last night and was surprised to see he wasn't on it, although there was one competition he got two 9 darters in one match I think. I think both scoring and finishing has improved in recent years but as in any sport you can't compare eras.

At least it's back at Lakeside now.

As for last night, a great final but not even in the top three, let alone the best of all time.

Next December. The BDO are no more though, and it's another sporting body that's taken them over.

The reigning champ from when it was played in last April is Neil "Duffman" Duff.

From my mate who looks after smithy about last night....

What a classy bloke MVG is thou, wished us all all the best at the venue then had a drink with us back at the hotel, they’ve both got a lot of respect for each other

in September 2020, the BDO went into liquidation, bringing an end to 47 years of their World Championship

Re: PDC World Darts Championship
Phil Taylor was certainly a marmite character wasn't he...! Can't take away his achievements though.

I always felt he was a good sore loser personally. But when you look at his dominance he didn't manage that by being nice and thinking of others. I wish we had a manager at our club and 11 players who played with the same attitude of win at all costs.

The modern day darts is great and the level so high. Be nice to see Taylor in his prime against some of these players with their scoring. Would it have made him raise his game even more?

I was commenting on how MVG took his defeat with grace. Did that really upset you?

3 dart average of 163 for the leg, would have been 172 if MVG hit his

Mallard - Give it a rest you whining old ball bag. The Power retired years ago, yet still some of you angels are harping on about him. It's fucking boring, get a life.

Re: PDC World Darts Championship
That was a great final, and THAT LEG early on, doubt we will see that again in a hurry if at all! Both players getting down to a 9-dart finish, MVG just missed the double 12 then Smith does it.

fantastic stuff

After reading the earlier comments about Phil Taylor, then watching them together at the end, you realise how much darts is in a better place without that arrogant turd.

Smith dug so deep there as he would have been in trouble had it gone to 6-5. Fully deserved and great to see how happy he is. Years of hard work all coming to fruition there.

Sky are going overboard with calling it the greatest final ever though. There have been some amazing finals over the years. I get how they get caught up in it all though.

Well done to the lad, held it together well, pleased he didn't bottle it and he played great. Greatest final ever? Not so sure but a great game nevertheless.
